Validity

The food license is valid for up to two years after the person registers with the FSSAI. The same can be renewed to continue with the food manufacturing and distribution activity in the region.

Food licenses

State level and central licenses are issued under the food licenses. The hotels and restaurants come under the state level licenses, while the large food manufacturers must take up the central license.

Exemptions

The cottage industry and the small scale stallholders are exempt from the food license registration. This also includes the hawkers and the tiny food business operator.
